Senior DevOps Engineer

Portfolio Pathway based out of Warrenville, IL is a wealth management platform provider with a strong reputation for providing portfolio management, rebalancing, trading, fee billing and third-party manager capabilities, currently providing services to 800,000+ platform accounts representing over $34 billion in assets.

Role Overview

This role will involve a combination of developer and system administration experience as our team is moving at a fast pace to help develop the platform for our next generation cloud-native architecture. We are looking for someone who loves learning how to configure backend systems, and infrastructure that will help us build our global SaaS platform. You must have extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Azure DevOps and know how to light and put out fires. You must be familiar with Dev Ops, having had a couple of Dev Ops roles under your belt - this role is not entry level.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Taking full ownership of Azure DevOps deployment automation responsible for deploying platform-as-code to SaaS and multi-cloud customers
  • Designing and implementing internal infrastructure and systems (such as metrics, monitoring, node management, alerting, deployment, logging)
  • Helping develop pipelines for automated testing to deliver continuous integration and deployment
  • Moving fast while taking the time to ship high quality code
  • Support development team during releases and deployments
  • Be familiar with .Net Stack and source control principles

Work Experience / Knowledge

  • 5+ years of developer and system administration experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps
  • Prior experience in a DevOps or similar role and familiarity with continuous integration and deployment models, processes and tools
  • Extensive knowledge of windows scripting
  • Extensive knowledge of network setup (connections between instances and ELB)
  • Strong system and network administration skills and deep understanding of windows-based systems
  • Knowledgeable about networking (L2, L3) and familiarity with configuring and managing networking gear used in data centers
  • Extensive knowledge of DNS management (A Records, CNAME records, etc.)
  • Experience resolving complex storage, network and system integration issues
  • Solid understanding of scaling concepts (e.g. caching layers, CDN)
  • Experience with standard and dotnet core building
  • Experience with npm
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented Agile environment
  • Goal oriented and able to meet deadlines consistently

Formal Education (minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred, or equivalent years of direct experience required
